| Why Quit Smoking |
Question:
Why Quit Smoking?
Answer:
Three years ago aroud the first of July I made the first of my
serious attempts to quit smoking. I was and still am on oxygen
24 hours a day because I have emphysema so bad that my lungs have
just about quit functioning like they should. I was on oxygen
over a year before I quit smoking and I knew that each time I
took a drag off a smoke that I was literally killing myself slowly
and surely. But the addiction was so strong that I could not stop.
So why quit smoking...Because you want to
be able to live your life without coughing every three seconds, losing your
sense of smell, having breath that smells like a dirty old sock, having
yellow teeth and black lungs, having your hair smell like burnt rubber,
having to smoke when you get up in the morning, have coffee, have lunch,
have sex, drive, talk on the phone, eat dinner, take a shower, etc.
Because you want to be able to smell the flowers, taste your food - have
pink lungs instead of black ones, have colds that only last two days
instead of two weeks, feel like you can run up a flight of stairs without
gasping for air, feel like you can actually exercise instead of sitting
around lighting little white sticks on fire and sucking on them instead.
