Question:
How do laser treatments and acupuncture
work to help stop smoking?
Answer:

Acupuncture is an alternative therapy
which involves needles being inserted
into key pressure points on the
body. The needles are removed except
for tiny ones in the ear - on a
line of addiction points - which
patients touch when they feel cravings.
Laser treatment is based on a similar
theory - the therapist applies a
cold laser beam to specific energy
points on the body. The idea is
to stimulate the release of endorphins
to help relieve stress and thereby
reduce the cravings for nicotine.
I am not sure acupuncture is better
than a placebo, but if it works,
it works. For the cost of a few
jags, it could work for some, particularly
if they have a strong belief in
that type of therapy. The main thing
to realise is that it's a huge addiction.
