| Laser Stop Smoking Clinic |
Question:
What can you tell me about New Beginnings
Laser Institute? Does laser treatment
work to stop smoking.
Answer:
 Jayne
Radford's husband took a trip to Windsor
two years ago for laser therapy treatment,
which was then unavailable in the
US. He was a three-pack-a-day smoker,
and he quit. Radford was impressed
enough to open her own clinic, New
Beginnings Laser Institute, last April
to provide the treatment to others.
Since then, she estimates she's treated
500 patients as part of a U.S. Food
and Drug Administration study aimed
at determining the treatment's effectiveness.
The therapy is a laser version of
acupuncture. Instead of using needles,
a low-level laser beam is directed
at points on the ear, face, hands
and wrists. It is completely painless,
without cutting, and doesn't burn.
Internationally, the success rate
is 87.9 percent, Radford said. The
treatment, for which Radford charges
$295, has been used in Europe for
25 years, she said.
