Emphysema Breathing Exercise

Any suggestions on types of breathing exercises to help with my emphysema?

Answer:
There are a few Lung Qigong techniques you may try. The first technique is for "cleansing the lungs" and is used to help emphysema, and asthma. It involves, breathing, a little bit of positioning/movement, and visualization. Part of it is to hold your breath as long as you can. The second technique is for "strengthening the lungs" and is used to help strengthen the respiratory and cardiovascular systems to aid in increasing the efficiency of the lungs and in preventing colds. (In traditional chinese medicine the health of the lungs is viewed as a major factor in warding off colds.) This technique involves holding your breath, breathing, and some visualization. Of course you should check with your doctor before doing any breathing exercises.
